Acta ISABEL, a clinical decision making tool—Web Site Update Provided by Kenneth J. Mack, M.D., Ph.D. ISABEL http://www.isabel.org.uk/ is an online clinical decision information system covering the whole spectrum of pediatrics, including pediatric neurology. Funded by The Isabel Medical Charity, the system is available free of charge to health professionals. ISABEL comprises a number of different linked features; its key feature includes a differential diagnosis tool. Using this feature, a physician is able to type in a patient’s symptoms, signs and their age, and a differential diagnosis is generated. This system uses pattern recognition software produced by Autonomy Corporation. Other features include an extensive range of expert treatment algorithms for acute and life-threatening conditions, and an image library of x-rays, CT scans, and slides.
